Tour Description

CenterBasedFinalFinal14DaysThis is a cycling tour designed for those who don’t want to carry their backpacks around wherever they go. Centre-based cycling is all about setting up in a central location and exploring all that is around with short but productive rides. Explore the inner workings of Sri Lanka with minimal packing.

After your arrival in Sri Lanka, you will be transferred to your first base in the ancient city of Sigiriya. From here you can explore the ruins of the Anuradhapura kingdom which dates back to the 4th century BC. More of Sri Lanka’s fascinating history awaits you as you ride through the island’s second oldest kingdom situated in Polonnaruwa.

You will also be able to climb the rock fortress of renegade King Kashyapa which is renowned as one of the best remaining examples of ancient urban planning.

Then it’s time to change your base and head to hill capital of Kandy. From here you will be able to explore this culturally rich city itself while venturing out to the picturesque Knuckles mountain range.

Your third base of operations will be in Nuwara Eliya where you will ride through the vast green tea estates amidst the misty mountains and the colonial architecture. You can then experience the traditional Sri Lankan rural lifestyle while in Belihuloya. Here you can interact with the people and learn about their day-to-day life to get an intimate understanding of rural village lifestyle.

You can then ride to Udawalawe, where an elephant sighting is guaranteed. Several species of birds and animals call this national park their home too. Enjoy a wild adventure in Udawalawe before you head south towards the coastline.

Unawatuna will be your final base from where you can relax and recover from your excursions to enjoy a bit of sun and beach. You will also take a ride to Galle in order to explore its enigmatic fort which was first built by the Portuguese and then fortified by the Dutch colonists who coveted these lands.

You will be transferred from Unawatuna back to the airport in time to catch your flight home.

This exclusive tour gives you the chance to catch some of Sri Lanka’s major tourist highlights all while packing nothing but the essentials. With nothing weighing you down and short stints on the bike, you can truly concentrate on the beauty and splendour of the sites you visit.
