Itinerary Summary

Coast to Coast – South is a comprehensive cycling tour of the major Sri Lankan tourist highlights with a knowledgeable tour guide. Catch the best of Sri Lanka’s wildlife, historical, scenic and cultural attractions.

If you want to go from coast to coast in Sri Lanka, either you’ll have to cross the central mountains or go around them. With this tour you’ll cross them, and you’ll be awarded with stunning views.

You will be picked up from the airport and taken to a seaside retreat in Negombo where you will meet your guides and crew. Relax and recover before embarking on an epic cycling tour which will start the next day.

On the first cycling day you’ll be taken away from the busy coastal traffic, led inward, from where you’ll enter the mountains.

The next day you’ll do white water rafting in the Kitulgala area and you’ll be taken to lesser known places near Kandy, before entering the hill capital.

To visit Kandy on a more pleasant way we recommend doing so on foot, also you’ll need to save some energy for the following days.

Leaving Kandy towards Nuwara Eliya means climbing deeper into the mountains. Explore “Little England” with its colonial estates, tea plantations, and cosy cottages. You will be taken on a walk through the Horton Plains National Park after which you’ll descend to Ella.

Ella, known for its “Ella Gap”, might give you the chance to see the southeast coast, if the weather allows you. Then you will head to the southeast coast on leaving Ella. Enjoy the last day of stunning mountain scenery.

Once you reach Arugam Bay on the eastern coast, you can begin to enjoy another relaxing day at the beach, or on reservation you can visit one of the most beautiful national parks called Kumana.

An exciting ride to Yala is next, where you will get the chance to see the Sri Lankan leopard that is commonly found in this Park. Take a safari here and see all that this renowned Wildlife Park has to offer.

Ride further south to the golden beaches of Tangalle where you might see turtles nesting.

The next day will be your last cycling day, towards Mirissa, where you can lounge around and relax. From Mirissa you’ll be transferred to Colombo, but only after you visit the Galle Fort where you will be able to see the various influences that the colonial era had on architecture, culture, and history. Your final stop will be in Colombo, the melting pot of cultures and commerce with the most fascinating history.

This tour offers you the chance to feel part of the communities and attractions you visit which is a benefit that cannot be enjoyed from the confines of an enclosed vehicle. We offer you an intimate tour of the country that will make exploring Sri Lanka a real adventure.
